Read our free guide: how to file Form 15644 yourself →

Know which chapters the IRS lists under your group, then file your yearly Form 15644 yourself, on time.

For the treasurer, secretary or director of a federation, council or association that holds an IRS group exemption for its chapters. Every central organization with a group exemption (church centrals excepted) now files Form 15644 each year. We pull your chapter roster from IRS data, check every chapter, and prepare a Form 15644 worksheet for you to review. You file the form with the IRS yourself.

Looking up your group is free. The full report is $29, one time. A private service, not the IRS.

File free with the IRS: online or by fax (how).

Not sure you have a group exemption? You may have one if your clubs don’t have their own IRS letters. Search your federation’s name to check.

When your Form 15644 window opens and closes

Cleanup due for every group exemption letter that existed on Jan 20, 2026, whatever your year-end

89 days left

If you must remove chapters, add a first chapter, or keep one group letter and terminate the others (Rev. Proc. 2026-8 §12.02(2)), file that before this date, as an interim update if your annual window is later. See the cleanup checklist.

Other year-ends have other windows: find your group to see yours. Days counted from today in your time zone.

This season for a December 31 fiscal year-end. The window runs from 90 to 30 days before the year ends (Rev. Proc. 2026-8 §7.01). Other year-ends have other windows.

What the IRS changed this year

Rev. Proc. 2026-8, in effect since January 20, 2026, replaced the 1980 rules for group exemptions. Four changes matter most if you keep the books for a federation.

  • A filing every year

Each central organization (church centrals excepted) now files Form 15644 every year, in a window from 90 to 30 days before its fiscal year ends. If nothing changed, you still file and say so.

  • The whole group exemption is at stake

The IRS may end a group exemption when the filing is late or incomplete, or when more than half of its chapters have been automatically revoked for not filing their annual returns.

  • A cleanup due before Jan 22, 2027

Every group exemption letter that existed on Jan 20, 2026 must complete its cleanup before Jan 22, 2027, whatever its year-end. If your window is later, the cleanup goes in as an interim update.

  • Supervision means more than a 990-N e-Postcard

Each year you collect each chapter’s finances and activities and remind it how to stay exempt. A copy of its 990-N isn’t enough.

What the report gives you

$29, one time, the same for every group. Your roster, checks on every chapter, and a worksheet for the IRS’s own form.

  1. See your IRS roster

Every chapter the IRS lists under your group number, in a spreadsheet. Compare it with your own list in minutes, right in your browser.

  2. Catch the problems

Chapters already revoked (they must be reported on the form, and the IRS removes them from your group), and chapters one missed return away from losing their exemption, while there’s still time to call them.

  3. Get a Form 15644 worksheet

A worksheet prefilled from that data, keyed to the form’s item letters, with each answer marked for your review. You enter the answers on the IRS’s own Form 15644.

Questions

How much does it cost?

The group lookup and the Form 15644 guide are free. The report (your IRS chapter roster, the checks and a Form 15644 worksheet) is $29, one time. Prices are in US dollars, and sales tax may apply. Pay by card. No payment now: reserve a report by email, and when checkout opens, we’ll let you know by email; you’ll pay on keepyourgroup.com.

How is the price set?

One price for every group: $29, one time. A group with 3 chapters and a group with 3,000 pay the same.

Where does the data come from, and how current is it?

All of it comes from public IRS bulk files: the Exempt Organizations Business Master File (the roster), the Form 990-N e-Postcard file and the automatic revocation list. An Internet Archive copy of the IRS roster file, captured Oct 1–3, 2024, lets us see which chapters left your group since then. Every number shows its source file and that file’s date. The IRS updates these files about monthly, and they can lag. In our analysis, revocations usually appear in the IRS file about three months after the revocation date, and 90% appear within 390 days. So check anything important about a single chapter, by EIN, in the IRS’s own Tax Exempt Organization Search. It draws on the same IRS data, so it can lag too.

Do you file Form 15644 for us?

No. We prepare a worksheet and the supporting lists. It is not an IRS form, so don’t fax or mail it. Your organization’s officer enters the answers on the IRS’s own Form 15644, signs it and files it with the IRS, online or by fax, free. We never submit anything to the IRS for you, and we don’t give tax or legal advice.

What happens to our own chapter list?

If you compare your own roster with the IRS roster, the comparison runs in your web browser and your file isn’t uploaded to us. For now we keep only the emails you send us, such as a reservation or a question. The site sets no cookies and runs no trackers. We don’t sell data. See the privacy policy.

What if the report isn’t useful, is wrong or never arrives?

Not useful? Email us within 14 days for a full refund, no questions. We also refund in full if your report never arrived, or if we processed the IRS data for your group wrongly. Gaps or errors in the IRS’s own files aren’t covered; every number shows its source and date so you can check. Write to support@keepyourgroup.com.

Did this email really come from you?

Our emails are plain text, signed by a named person, and sent from an address ending in keepyourgroup.com. They have no attachments, no QR codes, no tracking links and no prices. The only links go to public pages anyone can open, such as your group’s page. We never ask for passwords, IRS account access, Social Security numbers, or card or bank details by email, we never email you a way to pay, and we never file anything for you.

If you’re unsure, don’t click anything in the message. Type keepyourgroup.com into your browser yourself and look up your group: you’ll see the same public facts, and each one can be checked on the IRS’s own Tax Exempt Organization Search. Or forward the message to support@keepyourgroup.com and ask.

Are you part of the IRS?

No. KeepYourGroup is a private service operated by Studio Pyrizhky, in Washington State. We are not affiliated with the IRS or any government agency.

Do you offer ongoing monitoring?

Yes, as an option at checkout: same $29 today, then $29 each year. A monthly check of your chapters, an email when one slips or is revoked, and a fresh report before each window. It renews yearly until you cancel online, and we email you before each renewal.

How do I cancel?

Online, anytime, from the link in your receipt email.

We’re a CPA firm. Can we use this for clients?

Yes. You can reserve reports for client groups; write to hello@keepyourgroup.com. The report gives you the IRS data organized for the form; the professional judgment stays with you.

We’re a church or religious group. Do we need to file?

A central organization that is itself a church, or a convention or association of churches, may file Form 15644 but isn’t required to (Rev. Proc. 2026-8 §7.05). Our free lookup currently lists the groups that IRS codes show as non-church groups. If your group is religious but the central isn’t a church, ask your adviser whether the exception applies.
